A Little Of This and A Little Of That

Normally I like my things to be original, or at the very least just a little bit different. I think that is why I enjoy vintage things so much. Back in the day, things weren't cookie cutter. Plus, things were way more sturdy.
If you follow me on Instagram then you have already heard about my $2 table, so I am sorry if it is a repeat for some.
I almost passed up this table. It thought that it could work in the spare room but I wasn't positive and with the finish the way it was, I wasn't prepared to spend the $10 they were asking for it.
So I sent in the big guns....AKA Blake.
He talked them down to $2
He is amazing. My hero.
With this table I wanted instant gratification. No rolling on paint for this bad boy. I was far to impatient, and I wanted it to be shiny. Spray paint to the rescue. Blake had the idea to paint the drawer the same color as the beds. Smart boy.
I went to Hobby Lobby to pick out some knobs, and ended up settling on the blue. I was so close to buying the green ones but decided they would be too big. I am glad I stuck with the blue.
I am really happy with it! It makes for a good buffer in between the beds and it has a drawer to hold stuff. Actually, Blake and I keep joking that we are going to put a Bible in the drawer for visitors.
Also, for anyone that remembers...
I was having a hard time finding quilts for the bedroom downstairs. I wanted white ones but hadn't found any that I loved and I had looked everywhere, numerous times. I happened to find some at Target on sale and then I had an extra coupon, so I picked them up.
Imagine my surprise when a couple days after buying the ones from Target I made a trip to HomeGoods and found these....
all lined up and laughing at me.
I am sure most of you are familiar with Pinterest. Sometimes when I see a cleaning tip I like to click through to see what the comments say about it. You know, to check if it is legit. Turns out, Pinterest was right when they said that you can clean old wood with vinegar and oil.
I have a vintage cedar chest that is in pretty good condition, but has a couple of "spots."
The vinegar and oil made it pretty. Shiny and pretty.

I even used it on my desk.
In other news, I have been finally hanging things on the walls.
I didn't at first because rooms weren't completely done and I wasn't really sure where I wanted things to go, but little by little things have found a home and I have even found a few new things....
My exit sign.

My finger complete with Beatles lyrics.
"Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friends."
And the most recent addition of our Instagram pictures in the hallway.
Our kids love looking at all of the pictures and pointing our their favorites.
I love having pictures of our family and of our everyday life around our house to remind me that life is....
well...
pretty great.
